Performance evaluation of Avicus -HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering , Hynas Control 2.0.

The first case of awarding certificates after the introduction of KR 's new technology qualification evaluation, Expansion of technical support for new technology implementation.

Korea Register of Shipping, announced that AVICUS  and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, a company specializing in autonomous navigation, will be held at Nor-Shipping 2023 held in Oslo, Norway on the 7th. announced that it successfully completed New Technical Qualification (NTQ) for the autonomous navigation system "HiNas Control 2.0" developed with Hinas Control 2.0 combines information collected from various navigation equipment and sensors with artificial intelligence (AI) and utilizes augmented reality (AR) to automatically navigate ships at optimal routes and speeds or avoid collisions. It is a system.

It was developed for the purpose of assisting navigation, such as reducing fatigue of captains and navigators , and is expected to contribute to reducing marine accidents and air pollutant emissions by helping ships operate safely and improve fuel efficiency.

This qualification test is the first case of a new technology qualification test technology service introduced by KR to support the efficient implementation of new technology.

KR 's new technology qualification evaluation consists of a total of 4 steps: 1st stage feasibility and concept verification, 2nd stage prototype verification 3rd stage system integration verification, 4th stage operational verification. Verification of ability to perform functions according to performance requirements.

KR carefully reviewed the classification rules and domestic and international regulations to confirm the performance of ' Hinas Control 2.0', completed the integrated performance test through risk assessment and technology evaluation, and approved the new technology in the 'system integration stage', the third stage of new technology qualification evaluation. A certificate of qualification evaluation' was awarded.

KR Chairman Lee Hyeong-cheol said, “This evaluation is the first case in which KR has introduced a new technology qualification service , and it is very meaningful as it successfully conducted a high-level performance verification for an AI-based autonomous navigation system . ” Based on this successful case, we will continue to provide more practical and active technical support for the commercialization of autonomous ships, a future technology.”

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Digital Research Lab Director Kwon Byung-hoon said, “This new technology evaluation is a good example that proves HD Hyundai Group’s autonomous navigation technology. ” We were able to confirm the stability and performance of the system through sufficient technical verification at.

Avicus CEO Lim Do-hyung said , “ This certification is very meaningful in that it is the first case that passed KR’s new technology evaluation. ”We will do our best to develop technology and lead the market.”
